The barangay was once part of sitio Hagbuaya , one of the big sitios of the original big barangay of Hanopol.       In 1930, when Hagbuaya was sub – divided the two barrios of  Boyog Norte and Hagbuaya Proper were created. Hagbuaya Proper was renamed Hanopol Norte, the official name which the barangay uses to date.      Hanopol Norte connects Balilihan to the southern part of the  Municipality of Catigbian and to Batuan to it’s North.
